Former World Bank man appointed as finance minister

A financial expert who received his doctoral degree in economics at Wayne State is the new finance minister of Cyprus . President Tassos Papadopoulos announced the appointment yesterday of Michalis Sarris. From 1975-2004, Sarris worked at the World Bank, where he was promoted to the post of director. Articles about the appointment -- mentioning Wayne State -- appeared in several Cyprus newspapers.
